Developer Submittals to OEQC – Current Draft EIS and EISPN
During the last several months, the Office of Environmental Quality Control (OEQC) has developed an Online Document Library for public access. The website provides access to documents submitted by developers for review for each island and includes the following categories: Draft EA (Environmental Assessment), Draft EIS (Environmental Impact Statement), EISPN (Environmental Impact Statement Preparation Notice) , Final EA, Final EIS, NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act), and SMA (Special Management Area) submittals related to pending development projects.
In additional, Coastal Zone Managment information is available – a current example, published on Page 19 of the 12-23-06 Environmental Notice, is titled:

The public comment period for the project expires January 8, 2007.

A current Draft EIS is available regarding the Kona Kai Ola Project (harbor expansion), submitted 12-23-06 and is available for public comment until February 6, 2007.
A current EISPN is available regarding the Kula Nei Project (located at O’oma, North Kona, 270 residential units in the $600K to $850K price range) submitted 12-23-06 and is available for public comment until January 22, 2007.
